Back to School Night Information Packet. This was handed out at Back to School Night, as well as given to you in a QR code card which you could post on your refrigerator for quick access. It is posted here as well for reference. In this packet is an overview of the curriculum, procedures, and online resources we will use with password and username guides.
PTO Website- Being a part of the PTO is wonderful way to stay involved with the everyday happenings at school and to help make decisions for the future of the school.
Oakland Education Foundation (OEF)- Another amazing organization to get involved with that provides grants to teachers. I have received document cameras, classroom library sets for biography and weather units of studies, and a science lab cart through the generosity and support of the OEF.
Studying -This article provides many helpful suggestions for studying at home and how to be successful. Many nights I will assign studying of a topic. Studying at home looks different for each student based on their preference of activity for studying. At this age, we have to teach them study habits so they can perfect these skills and can later be independent while studying.
Curious Reader Bookstore- I love love love this book store and it is local! The reason I love it as a parent is the entire back room is leveled. Therefore, it is easy for my child and I to locate books at her "just right" independent reading level. It is important to encourage your child to read at home at their level each and every night and log their minutes on Biblionasium.
Math update- new this year is the GO Math! series. We are excited to implement this program in the classroom. We feel this will be a smooth transition for students, teachers, and parents. There are great online resources which will be linked in the math tab once the school year starts. However, one of my favorite features is the QR codes embedded in the text which gives students and parents tutorials at home if they are stuck on a problem. So, you will need to download a QR reader. If you have an iPhone you can just scan using your camera. If you do not have this feature on your phone than the preferred reader that I have used in the past is QR Jump. It is available in the APP store.
Remind Homeroom Class- Don't forget to sign up for my remind messages. I will use this often to keep you updated on classroom events, due dates, materials needed, test dates, field trips, extra help sessions, and PTO happenings.
Remind Science Class -I will use remind to update you on test dates, classroom activities, experiments to try at home and local places to visit related to our units of study.
